El Salvador Corridor is the first designated Salvadoran neighborhood in Los Angeles

South of Downtown L.A. near the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, travelers will find El Salvador Corridor — the first designated Salvadoran neighborhood in Los Angeles. 12 blocks of Vermont Avenue from 11th Street to Adams Street.

“There are more than 100 businesses and small markets offering Central American products that make up this Corridor, which serves as a physical space for Salvadorans to feel recognized in a city comprised of nearly 1 million Salvadorans.”

Signs denote the 12-block stretch of the El Salvador Corridor along Vermont Avenue near USC as the 15th Salvadoran state. It took a community leader about five years to win official approval of the area’s name.
